Material Work (MW): Working with Montessori material for the promotion of individuality in our children. The material is divided into everyday life, sensory material, cosmos, mathematics, language material, geography and biology.

Morning Snack (MS): After all the butterflies arrive, we greet one another in our morning circle and fill in our calendar with the day, date, season and weather. After this we prepare a healthy breakfast together, set the table and talk about our latest issues and daily routine. We want to start the day by making each child feel important and valued.

PH: Personal Hygiene. We wash our hands and face, brush our teeth, undertake potty training and all of the other aspects of the restroom :)

Playball: This course offers a children a healthy balance between fun and learning, as well as developing all basic sports skills. Playball supports children’s social, emotional and cognitive development as well as promoting self-confidence and team spirit. Director: Nadine McGaw, Language: English. www.playballkids.com

Lunch time and Nap time: Together we set the table and eat in a calm and relaxed environment. Our rich and healthy lunch is cooked for us by Menu & More (www.menuandmore.ch). After lunch we pay attention to each child’s individual needs; children can either sleep, play in our playground, look at books in our cosy reading corner, listen to stories or pursue another quiet activity.

Afternoon snack (AS): The children all look forward to preparing their own snack. Through doing this they learn various facts about food and healthy diets. They are also able to practice using simple kitchen equipment while strengthening their social behaviour as part of a group.

Guided Sequence (GS): During this time, dialogue and exchange is in the foreground. Various topics are discussed, we play together, go for a walk, enjoy different projects, bake, celebrate different events, make believe, and play games as a group.

English Music Class (EMC): We love music. Together we sing English nursery rhymes and use instruments, while dancing and moving to different rhythms. Making music promotes mental development, strengthens concentration and promotes the ability to learn by improving the coordination of the brain hemispheres.

Art (A): We want to foster the children's creativity and help them discover their passion artistic passion. We work with different painting techniques (brush, bark, cork, brushes etc.). Our art class encourages coordination and is so much FUN!

Creation (C): We allow the children to work with clay, wood, fabrics, colors and different tools. This variety of material stimulates children's senses, promotes creative artwork, and develops their motor and coordination skills.

Nature (N): Our nearby forest area is the perfect place to experience and explore nature. This promotes social behavior, a positive relationship with nature,  creativity, concentration, and both fine and gross motor skills.

Settling-in period

An essential basis for the creation of a sustainable relationship between a child and their educators is an positive settling–in period; the acclimatization of each child therefore deserves special attention. Before the settling-in period begins, we begin to understand your family values by discussing individual likes, dislikes and rituals. In order to settle your child gently and comfortably, they should be accompanied by a parent in their transition to the (new) enviroment of the "day-care". Our experienced educators will support the child as well as the parent.

Meals and Personal Hygiene

At our nursery, we offers four meals. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. While preparing the snacks, the children have the opportunity to actively participate in the preparation of our food. We attach great importance to a child-friendly, balanced, varied and healthy diet.

We also attach great importance to good hygiene; all children wash their hands before each meal and after lunch, they brush their teeth. It is important to us that children can learn and experience a sense of community while eating, and before each meal we sing a song together. Formula should be brought by the parents, and we are prepare fresh and healthy fruit and vegetable mash. The babies get their bottle according to their own personal routine. Children should not bring food, especially sweets, to nursery.

Sleep and rest time

After lunch babies and smaller children take their afternoon nap, while older children undertake a quiet activity. Naptime lasts different for different amounts of time for each individual child. All children are woken up by 14.30 at the lates, in order to ensure that any afternoon activities and excursions can take place.

Clothing and personal items

Children should wear weather-appropriate, comfortable clothing. We go outside every day, whatever the weather. Parents should also bring spare clothes for their children which can be kept in the daycare. To avoid any accidents, we recommended that children do not wear jewelry. Kita am See is not liable for loss or damage to clothes, toys and jewelry. Diapers, toothbrushes and toothpaste should also brought in by parents.

Drop off and pick up

The children arrive at the nursery between 6:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.. Breakfast is served between 6:45a.m. and 8:00 a.m.. So that we can begin daily activities, it is important that all parents say goodbye by 9:00 a.m.. Depending on their hours, children can be picked up between 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. or from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. .

Parents are asked to make sure that their child is picked up on time. If the child is picked up by a third party, the nursery management has to be informed by the parents beforehand, and the person must be able to prove their identity when picking up the child. The management must be informed if a child should not be handed over to certain people.

Attendances and Absences

The nursery management must be notified of holidays, in writing, at least one week in advance. In case of illness or other absence please inform us by 09.00 a.m. at the latest.

Sickness and accident

In case of infectious disease and / or fever, your child should not be brought to the nursery. If a child becomes ill during their time in the nursery, parents will be notified immediately. Allergies and / or infectious diseases in the family need to be discussed with the nursery management at the start. Should a child have an accident, the nursery director or teacher is entitled to seek a doctor or go to the hospital. The parents of the child concerned will be notified immediately.

Directives

The nursery Little Butterflies works according to the guidelines of the Canton Schwyz and the Association of Day-care in Switzerland (Kitas).
